Cebu’s tropical paradise never fails to stun tourist. Taking you to a remarkable first class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines, Argao is located at the Southeastern portion of the province of Cebu approximately 68 Kilometers from the city. It’s exactly between and the southern tip of the island (Santander). As I took time to pick Argao for my next destination I was stunned this place gem. AGTA CAVE
An interesting destination in Argao is the Agta Cave. “Agta” is drive term in Cebuano describing a huge, dark and pipe smoking Human like creature in Philippines myth. The cave is thought to be house of the Agta. This cave, will give a challenging adventure, an experience that neophyte mountaineers or adventurers will exactly never forget.
Roughly and basically, described as having wide open entrance of the cave that will lead you to the other end which has small lake and waterfalls.
From inside the cave features the rock phosphate mining. At tme you may explore darkness but as you continue you will reach the skylight area which is right in the middle or midway of the cave. With the huge aperture where light comes in that brightens the areas of the cave.
Passing with challenging trail leading towards the Cave, a rewarding cool temperature inside the cave awaits with the darkness that fills the mystery of experiencing inside.
An interrstig shapes and rock formation (stalagmites and stalactites) sparkles as you flashes lights on them.
Considering the value of ecological balance where numbers of bats can be found. In the end of the cave, highlights by the rock formation that looks exactly like a tabacco puffing Agta ( a giant black creature in Philippine Myth). You can Observe this rock formation when you turn off you flashlights.
It has been presumed that no matter how people tried to take photo of this Agta nobody has really captured a clear one.
BUGASOK FALLS
Another perfect destination for camp site and trekking, on the list of one their hidden natural tourist spots is the Bugasok Falls. If you are looking for ways to be one with nature, this is the place to be. Giving a chance to reflect and complete freshen up your perspectives. Argao will never fail your expectations to the perfect placed for a peaceful trip. The serenity of the place offers peerless solace.
As the sounds of the water relentlessly pouring down, with the chirping birds and the wind by is like nature’s own of a sweet song inviting your soul to relish the environment and just lost in time.
With a magical form of water it has to offer, it invites the different activities and the waterfalls adventure opens the distinct species of birds the place has to offer.
An experience worth your escapade for. You will never regret this view in Argao.
Friendly Reminders:
1. To get to Argao, ride a bus bound for Cebu south
(Bato-Oslob, Bato-Oslob via Liloan Port or Cebu-Dumaguete) at the Cebu South
Bus Terminal. Inform the driver you will be stopping at the Argao bus stop.
2. Since going to Balay sa Agta cave and Bugasok falls requires a
guide, you will need to schedule the tour with the Argao Tourism Office. You
may call them at 4858063. Their office location is just walking distance
from the bus stop. It's located near the St. Michael Archangel Church.
3. Best wear trekking shoes or any closed shoes
in general that is good for trekking.
4. Pack light. Its best advised not to bring a big
backpack to avoid tripping in route to the cave. Bring extra clothes, slippers
or shoes and drinking water.
6. Bus fare from Cebu City to Argao cost around
80-90 pesos. The tour package costs 600 pesos inclusive of round trip
transportation (habal-habal) from tourism office to the cave's location, a
guide, gears, entrance fee, permit and, snacks.
