Siargao Island Day 1: Surfing and Beautiful Views!

From Cebu, it's about a 1-hour flight to Sayak Airport, the gateway to Siargao.
Morning: Arrival at Siargao Island
From the airport, it takes about 40-50 minutes by car to reach the main area of General Luna. It is common to use shared vans or tricycles (motorbike taxis) for transportation.

In the case of a shared van, you can inform the driver of your hotel name, and they will take you directly to your hotel. The travel time may vary depending on the hotel's location. The fare is 300 pesos per person.

If you have light luggage, you can hop on a tricycle right outside the airport grounds and head straight to your destination while enjoying the breeze! The price is negotiable, with an estimated fare of 250–350 pesos per person.
Afternoon: Lunch at Chef Marquin's Burgers
First, let's grab a bite! We headed to "Chef Marquin's Burgers," a popular hamburger shop on Siargao Island.

Chef Marquin’s Burgers is especially known for its huge burgers and is highly rated by both locals and tourists.

Homey Atmosphere: The casual and relaxed interior makes it perfect for meals with friends and family. Also, being close to the beach, you can enjoy a leisurely time looking at the ocean after your meal.
This place is known for its hearty burgers with juicy patties and cheese, making it a perfect spot to fuel up before surfing.

Afternoon: Surfing at Cloud 9
When it comes to Siargao Island, surfing is a must! So, we headed to the world-famous surf spot, Cloud 9.

Every year, international surfing competitions are held here, and the island offers plenty of spots for everyone—from beginners to pros. You’ll find everything from gentle waves perfect for first-timers to big waves that challenge advanced surfers.

Even if you don’t surf, the view from the long wooden “Cloud 9 Boardwalk” is well worth seeing.

You can also take a surf lesson, with an instructor available for 600 pesos per hour.

Take a break at the hidden gem café in Santa Fe, Bamboo Surf Café
Located in Santa Fe on Siargao Island, Bamboo Surf Café is a relaxing spot popular with surfers and travelers alike. Both the exterior and interior are stylish and Instagram-worthy!

They offer delicious coffee, fresh fruit juices, and a variety of breakfast options. Matcha lattes and soy milk alternatives are also highly recommended. With the aroma of freshly ground coffee in the air, it's the perfect place to relax after a day at the beach.

When I visited, a tiny newborn kitten was peacefully sleeping right next to me—it was such a heartwarming sight!

In Siargao Island, traveling by bike is the main mode of transportation. The rental fee for a bike is around PHP 500 per day. Even with gas, you can enjoy a full day for about PHP 1,500.
Drive to the "Coconut Road"!
The first place we headed to was one of Siargao Island's iconic scenic spots, Coconut Road!

This is a straight road lined with coconut trees on both sides, creating a breathtaking view. Especially in the afternoon, the sunlight filters through the palm trees, giving the place a magical atmosphere. Riding a motorbike down this road feels just like a scene from a movie!
Afterward, head to the Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge. This bridge connects the villages of Catangnan and Cabitoonan in General Luna.
At sunset, the sky turns vivid colors, offering a stunning and breathtaking view.
Near the bridge, you'll find food stalls and souvenir shops, where you can enjoy local food while watching the sunset. These stalls usually open around 5 PM and attract many tourists.
This bridge is a beloved spot for both tourists and locals, as it showcases the natural beauty and culture of Siargao Island. When you visit, be sure to take in the views from the bridge and explore the surrounding attractions as well.
Dinner: Isla Cusina in General Luna
We had dinner at "Isla Cusina" in General Luna in the evening. We ordered pizza and nachos there.

Margherita Pizza – PHP 480 / Nachos – PHP 385
The pizza was loaded with cheese, and the nachos were topped with generous ingredients on crispy tortillas—absolutely delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed a satisfying dinner in a tropical atmosphere.

The restaurant is open from 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM, so you can enjoy anything from breakfast and café items like coffee and cake to gelato, no matter what time you visit. It's definitely worth checking out!

Evening: Enjoy the nightlife!
In the evening, we headed to "Siargao Beach Club" to enjoy Siargao's nightlife.

Siargao Beach Club is located in General Luna on Siargao Island. It's within walking distance from the beach area of General Luna, which is also a popular tourist spot. Getting there by tricycle (motorbike taxi) or rental motorbike is common and convenient.

The club is open daily from 9:00 AM until late at night. During the day, it has a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere, while in the evening, it comes alive with music and energy. Various music events and themed parties are held regularly, featuring local DJs and live performances for an unforgettable night out.

This is a popular club where both tourists and locals gather, creating a fun and friendly atmosphere. It was easy to mingle with travelers and surfers, and I had a great time!

In the morning, we took a stroll along the beaches around General Luna, enjoying a peaceful and relaxing time while listening to the sound of the waves.

Lunch: A healthy smoothie bowl at Shaka Siargao
For lunch, we went to Shaka Siargao, a popular spot among health-conscious travelers, known for its acai bowls and smoothies. We enjoyed a refreshing smoothie bowl. Siargao Island has many healthy cafés, so you can eat well and stay healthy even while traveling.

Our recommendation: "Tropical Peach.
It's packed with mango, granola, coconut, and more — offering a refreshing and naturally sweet flavor!
Afternoon: Visit souvenir shops & transfer to the airport
Before heading home, shop for souvenirs at the local market in General Luna.

You'll find tropical-themed items like handmade accessories and Siargao T-shirts with cute surfer designs. Pick up the perfect souvenir to remember your Siargao trip, then head to the airport!
